NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's water polo team fell to Brown by a 13-7 decision on Wednesday evening at Lott Natatorium.
The Bears scored the first four goals of the game in less than four minutes and led from wire to wire. Connecticut College came within two by getting back-to-back goals from senior
Lucas Verrilli (Evanston, Ill.) at the end of the first and beginning of the second, but the hosts would not be able to get any closer. Brown carried an 11-4 lead at halftime and eventually held on for the six-goal win.
The Camels were led by seniors
Mike Gertsik (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Verrilli who each netted two goals apiece. Freshman
Siaki Nelson (Montgomery, Texas), sophomore
Alex Turnquest (Nassau, Bahamas), and junior
Christian Jacobsen (North Palm Beach, Fla.) combined for six saves on the defensive end.
Connecticut College (1-10) will conclude a five-game homestand when it hosts Iona on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Gertsik and Verrilli will also be recognized for their contributions to the program prior to the match.
