Augie Djerdjaj (Mahopac, N.Y.) led a group of three Connecticut College men's soccer standouts who earned All-NESCAC recognition, as announced by the league office today. Djerdjaj and classmate
Steve Yeonas made the first team, freshman
Jack Kelesoglu (Westfield, N.J.) landed on the second team, and Djerdjaj was also named the conference's player of the year.
Djerdjaj, a midfielder, became the fourth Camel in program history to be voted as the league's player of the year after continuing to be among the team's top scoring threats this fall. The award was previously won by Billy Hawkey in 2013, Pat Devlin in 2016, and AJ Marcucci in 2018. Djerdjaj has three goals and two assists in 12 appearances and 10 starts, and all three of his goals have been game winners. He most notably netted the lone goal in 1-0 NESCAC wins over Colby and Middlebury.
Yeonas is being recognized for the first time at the forward position and currently boasts three goals and two assists to date. He set up a pair of goals in a 5-1 win over Bates and netted both of the team's markers in a 2-0 triumph over Trinity. Yeonas also scored the deciding goal in a 2-1 victory against Williams in the quarterfinal round of the NESCAC Tournament.
Kelesoglu has anchored a back line which has blanked 10 opponents and allowed one goal or less 14 times. In addition, he has contributed offensively with two goals and one assist, with his most recent marker coming in a 2-1 NESCAC Quarterfinal win against Williams.
Connecticut College (14-4) will be making its fourth straight NCAA Tournament later this week and begin its next postseason journey when it hosts Salem State for a first-round matchup on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m.
