HARTFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team fell to Trinity by a score of 65-54 at Ray Oosting Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
The Camels opened the first quarter with a layup from
Aislinn McMahon (Andover, Mass.), which was quickly answered by Trinity. The game was back and forth until the Bantams pulled away with a three pointer from Indianna DelRocco to make the score 11-7. By the second quarter, Connecticut College shot only 3-of-14 from the floor, allowing the Bantams to extend their lead to 13 points. Trinity (4-2) ended the quarter up 32-19.
However, Connecticut College bounced back with excellent momentum in the third quarter, outscoring Trinity by eight points.
Molly Cronin (Wellesley, Mass.), Connecticut College's leading scorer of the game, opened the quarter with two 3-pointers, and the Camels took off from there.
Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) showed outstanding effort on the defensive end of the court, contributing significantly to the Camels and narrowing Trinity's lead to only five points by the end of the quarter.
Although the Camels never lost their momentum, at one point narrowing the deficit to only four points, they were unable to ultimately triumph over the Bantams. Trinity outscored the Camels 25-19 in the fourth quarter, securing its win in the final minutes.
Cronin led the scoring efforts for Connecticut College with 16 points. Oberman-Levine notched 11 rebounds and two assists to lead the team in both categories.
The Bantams were led by Samantha Gallo, who had 17 points. Madison Stevens also tallied 13 rebounds and 3 assists.
Connecticut College (1-6) returns home to face Westfield State on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
