GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior
Tarvis Hintlian (Winchester, Mass.) competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon.
Hintlian, who is the first women's track & field student-athlete to represent the Camels at an NCAA Championship event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, placed 10th overall by hitting the tape in 11:17.13. Freshman Aubrie Fisher won the race thanks to a strong finish on the bell lap by clocking in at 10:30.46 to lead a group of 19 student-athletes who were competing in the event.
Today's race by Hintlian marked the end to a very successful return season for the Camel women's outdoor track & field program, as six student-athletes combined to break a school record in five different events. Hintlian, who established the program standard in the steeplechase as a sophomore in 2019, lowered the mark to 10:55.27 this season and also ran the 800-meter leg for the distance medley relay team which clocked in a record-breaking time of 13:00.03 in her final home meet.
Connecticut College graduated 10 seniors, including Hintlian, and is slated to return more than 25 letterwinners next season.
