SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's squash team split its matches over the weekend, defeating Chatham 7-2 before falling to Georgetown by an identical score in its second matchup.
Senior
Lili Vazquez (Chicago, Ill.) led the way for the Camels against Chatham, defeating her opponent 3-0 (11-0, 11-2, 11-2) from the no. 3 spot to give Connecticut College its first victory of the matchup. Sophomore
Ashley Breyer (Middletown, R.I.) also contributed with a 3-0 victory of her own (11-2, 11-2, 11-2) from the no. 5 spot.
Juniors
Angela Cao (Boston, Mass.) and
Tanya Mendoza (Bronx, N.Y.) claimed the only points for the Camels in the matchup with Georgetown University from the no. 8 and no. 9 spots respectively. Cao defeated her opponent in five sets (11-9, 11-8, 10-12, 8-11, 11-8), and Mendoza followed suit with a 3-2 victory of her own (11-6, 7-11, 5-11, 11-6, 11-5).
Connecticut College (3-5) will next travel to Medford, Mass. on Saturday, January 22nd, to take on NESCAC opponent Bates at 12:00 p.m.
