NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Connecticut College men's basketball team defeated Albertus Magnus on Monday night by a score of 67-55. This marks the fourth straight non-conference victory for the Camels.

The Connecticut College Camels got off to a hot start on Monday night, jumping out to a quick 18-2 lead on the back of five points from sophomore
Ben Rice (Hanson, Mass.). Despite a brief scoring run for Albertus Magnus, the Camels were able to maintain a controlling fourteen point lead at halftime, with a score of 34-20.

The second half saw Albertus Magnus storm back, going on an 11-3 run to start the half to bring the game back to a six point deficit. The score stayed at an eight to ten point margin for the remainder of the second half, with Rice and senior
Austin Lavitt (Rye Brook, N.Y.) both hitting key three pointers in the final four minutes to silence any scoring runs by the Falcons. The Camels held onto the lead thanks to five last minute free throws by sophomore
Billy Whelan (Hamilton, Mass.) to claim a 67-55 victory.

Freshman
Cam Schainfeld (Newton, Mass.) led the Camels in scoring with 18 points to go along with four rebounds and sophomore
Jarron Flynn (Roslindale, Mass.) contributed 16 points of his own to go along with five rebounds. For Albertus Magnus, Kevin Crawford led the way with a game-high 20 points and Terry Dawkins contributed 14 points and eight assists in the losing effort.

Connecticut College led Albertus Magnus in all three shooting percentages, leading them 44.9% to 35.1% from the field, 26.3% to 16.7% from behind the three-point arc, and 60% to 51.9% from the free throw line. Despite the offensive dominance by Connecticut College, the Falcons narrowly led the Camels in rebounds by a 39-38 margin and led them in stealts by a 9-6 margin. The Camels did lead in assists by a 10-9 margin and forced the Falcons to turn the ball over 22 times compared to just 19 turnovers for Connecticut College. The Camels also capitalized in transition, leading their opponents in fast break points by a tally of 18-11.
