EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Connecticut College men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Pre-National Invitational on Saturday morning at Forest Akers East Golf Course.
The men's squad, one of 11 nationally-ranked programs in the field, finished 10th overall with a total of 301 points. Matt Carter (Manchester, Mass.) paced the Camels with a blistering time of 24:31.8 to finish third out of the 329 competitors in the men's 8K race. Jeffrey Love (Union, N.J.) also turned in a time of 24:53.8 to place 13th overall.
MIT, ranked No. 2 in the most recent men's national rankings, took home the team title with 62 points. Wisconsin-La Crosse's Ethan Gregg earned individual honors, besting the field with a time of 24:12.3.
On the women's side, Conn finished 15th out of 36 teams with a total of 472 points. Julia Curran (Cumberland, Maine) crossed the finish line in 22:40.7 to lead the Camels, finishing 23rd in the field of 316 runners.
Chicago placed three runners in the top five to earn the women's team title with 59 points. Loras' Kassie Parker broke the tape in a time of 20:31.2 to win the 6K race.
Schools from across the country competed in the event, which served as a preview of the course that will host the 2022 NCAA Division III National Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on November 19.
