NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Connecticut College men's water polo team defeated LIU 9-8 on Friday afternoon at Lott Natatorium.

Senior Christian Jacobsen (North Palm Beach, Fla.) scored five goals to lead the Camels to the victory, while first year Sebastian Parilov (Brookyln, N.Y.) was outstanding in the net, registering nine saves.

The first quarter was a defensive standoff as both teams were held scoreless through the first half of the period. Sophomore Siaki Nelson (Montgomery, Texas) got the Camels on the scoreboard first, and the hosts led 1-0 after eight minutes of play.

Conn started to find their rhythm offensively in the second quarter. The Camels tallied three goals including a highlight reel play when Jacobsen gathered a rebounded shot and utilized a quick touch to tap the ball into the back of the net to extend the Camels' lead.

Leading 4-1 at the break, Conn continued to add on in the third quarter, scoring an additional three times while holding its opponents to only one goal.

LIU was able to make a furious comeback in the final quarter and were able to cut the deficit to only one score, but ultimately, the Camels were able to hold on for the 9-8 victory

In addition to Jacobsen and Nelson, Chase Fichtner (New Canaan, Conn.) and Grant Archer (Miami, Fla.) tallied scores for the hosts.

Connecticut College (3-10) will next travel to Brown University for a matchup on Saturday, November 5 at 5:00 p.m.
