MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's squash team suffered an 8-1 defeat against the United States Naval Academy on Friday night at neutral site Wesleyan College.

Playing under new head coach Scott Brown, the Camels opened their season against an opponent that has already played in 12 matches prior to Friday night's contest. Conn was competitive from top to bottom, but ultimately the Midshipmen were able to prevail.

First year Chris Meza (New Haven, Conn.) picked up the lone victory for the Camels in his collegiate debut. Meza easily dispatched his opponent in the No. 9 spot, winning in straight sets, 11-1, 11-3, 11-3.

Classmate Henry Pelletier (West Hartford, Conn.) was narrowly defeated in the No. 3 slot. After winning the first set 11-7, the first year dropped the next three frames.

Connecticut College (0-1) will be back in action on Saturday, November 19 with matches against Vassar College and Haverford College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
