BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team fell by a 91-27 final to No. 4/2 New York University on Friday night at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility.
The Violets (7-0 overall), ranked fourth in the latest WBCA Coaches Poll and second by D3hoops.com, shot 52 percent from the floor to remain unbeaten on the season. Natalie Bruns was one of three NYU players who finished with a game-high 14 points and also added eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) paced Conn with 10 points and four boards.
Jaycie Rojik (Scituate, Mass.) chipped in six points, four rebounds and two steals while
Aislinn McMahon (Andover, Mass.) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Entering the game, NYU's high-powered offense ranked among the top 10 in Division III in scoring (sixth), three-point field goal percentage (seventh) and field goal percentage (eighth). The Violets lived up to the billing, rolling up 30 points in the opening quarter to seize control early.
NYU was particularly lethal from long range, shooting 15-for-34 from beyond the arc in the contest. Caroline Peper splashed four triples to bolster the attack, and a total of seven Violets scored from deep on the night.
Conn College (1-5 overall) returns to action at Coast Guard Academy on Monday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m.
