MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Connecticut College men's and women's track & field teams kicked off their indoor campaigns at Wesleyan on Friday night. The non-scoring event included the host school and New Haven.
On the women's side, 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field All-American
Malissa Lindsey (Chicago, Ill.) competed in the 200-meter dash. The senior easily bested the competition, crossing the line in 26.57 seconds, over one second ahead of the second-place finisher. Lindsey also won the 60, finishing in 7.95 seconds.
Senior
Mary Rusnock (Suffield, Conn.) raced in the 800, completing the event in 2:32.48. Following a strong sophomore season,
Emma Wheeler (Meredith, N.H.) returned to action in the 60-meter hurdles. The junior raced to the finish in 9.79 seconds. In the mile run, first years
Abigail Fernald (Avon, Conn.) and
Olivia Ferraro (Cheshire, Conn.) performed well, placing first and third respectively. Classmates
Grace McDonough (Londonderry, N.H.) and
Alexa Estes (Virginia Beach, Va.) were the top-two finishers in the 1000. McDonough crossed the line in 3:12.60, while Estes finished .02 seconds behind as the runner-up.
Senior
Max Notarnicola (Millwood, N.Y.) and junior
Robbie Lynch (Wellesley, Mass.) were the top performers in the men's 1000. Notarnicola finished in 2:39.56, five seconds ahead of Lynch. First year
Anders Larson (Concord, N.H.) won the pole vault, clearing 3.85 meters in his first collegiate event.
Lucas Vasquez (Ewing, N.Y.) placed second overall in the 400.
Connecticut College will break for the remainder of the semester and return to action on January 14 at the Tufts Invitational.
