SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Connecticut College men's tennis team continued its strong start to the spring season with a 9-0 win against Springfield College on Wednesday afternoon. The Camels are off to their best five-game start in over a decade, with a 4-1 record overall.
Seniors
Henry De Coster (Greenwich, Conn.) and
Julian Tien (Barrington, R.I.) led the way for Conn. At the No. 1 doubles position, the duo recorded an impressive 8-1 victory to set the tone for the Camels. The pair followed up with straight-set wins in singles competitions at the No. 1 and 2 positions respectively.Â
Notably, freshmen
Krishh Tipnis (Thane, India),
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) and
Andy Feldman (Newton, Mass.) earned their first collegiate victories against the Pride. Tipnis and Mulligan earned wins as part of doubles teams at the No. 2 and 3 positions. Feldman picked up the decision in the No. 6 singles spot with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph of his own.Â
"The team maintained excellent focus throughout the match, and the intensity was top notch," said Connecticut College head coach
Jakob Klaeson. "The team has been on a hot streak recently and this was a great performance overall."
Connecticut College will play Wheaton College on the road on Thursday before the start of NESCAC play this weekend. Â
