Men's and Women's Cross Country Compete At Cardinal Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Connecticut College men's and women's cross country teams kicked off its fall campaigns on Saturday afternoon at the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan College.

On the women's side, the Camels placed fourth out of six scoring teams. Julia Curran (Cumberland, Maine) was the top finisher for Conn. The senior crossed the line sixth overall in 19:12, which was her personal best in the 5k event.

Teammate Lauren Hino (Berwyn, Pa.) finished five spots behind Curran in 11th place. Hino's time of 19:34 was also a new top mark for her. Abby Fernald (Avon, Conn.) and Alsacia Timmerman (Morrisville, Vt.) also placed in the top-25, finishing 19th and 24th respectively.

In the men's 6k event, Conn ended the day in sixth place out of the seven-team field. First year Jonathan Norton (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) put forth a strong performance, finishing 11th with a time of 19:42 in his collegiate debut. 

Classmate Robert DiNatale (Cheshire, Conn.) also ran his first race for the Camels and finished 25th overall out of 97 participants. DiNatale crossed the line in 20:26.

Both the men's and women's team will compete next weekend at an event hosted by UMass-Dartmouth.
