Women's Tennis Tops Springfield in Season Opener

Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team opened the 2022 season with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Springfield College on Saturday afternoon.

The Pride took two of three doubles matches to grab the early lead, but the Camels stormed back to clinch victory behind four singles wins. Caitlin Cass led the way for the hosts, posting wins at both No. 1 singles and doubles. 

Cass teamed with Sana Bhatt to earn an 8-6 win at the top doubles spot, securing Conn's lone doubles point of the day. She then went on to record a straight-sets victory over Gabriella Heaney-Secord to lead the charge in singles.

The Camels also picked up points at the No. 3, 4, and 5 positions. Lily Kerachsky and Anna Slopak each triumphed in straight sets, while Courtney Banks split sets and prevailed in a 10-point tiebreaker.
