Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Two members of the Connecticut College men's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championship on Friday afternoon on the campus of Bowdoin College.
Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) and
Gavin Anderson (West Hartford, Conn.) each picked up wins in the opening round of singles action, but both faced seeded opponents and were eliminated in the round of 32. The two also teamed up earlier in the day in the doubles portion of the tournament.
Taylor-Kerman topped Wheaton's Josh Anscheutz in straight sets to advance out of the first round. After posting a 6-1 win in the first set, he prevailed in a tiebreaker in the second by 7-6 (7-2) final. He then came up short in the following round against eighth-seeded Reid Staples from Bowdoin, falling by set scores of 6-0, 6-3.
Anderson dropped only two games against his first-round opponent, cruising past Wheaton's Ethan Na by scores of 6-1, 6-1. He then drew fourth-seeded Matt Kandel of Williams in the second round and was eliminated 6-0, 6-0.
Earlier in the day, the two Camels teamed up in doubles play, losing by an 8-1 final to a duo from Brandeis.
Conn College returns to action at home against Springfield College on Wednesday, October 5 at 2:45 p.m.
