Field Hockey Falls at No. 7 Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Connecticut College field hockey team opened the 2022 season with a 3-1 loss against No. 7 Babson College on Tuesday night at MacDowell Field.

The Beavers scored a pair of goals in the first quarter and added another before intermission to lead 3-0 at halftime. Caroline DiGiovanni (Harwich, Mass.) scored twice and had a hand in all three goals.

The Camels hung tough in the second half, keeping the Beavers off the scoreboard while adding a goal of their own. First-year Bridget McGann (West Hartford, Conn.) recorded her first career goal with 18 seconds remaining in the contest, elevating a shot from just inside the striking circle that found the top-left corner of the goal.

Sophomore Sophie Moniz (Alexandria, Va.) finished with six saves in her collegiate debut in goal for the Camels. Classmate Abby Ragland (Westport, Conn.) also added a defensive save.

Conn (0-1 overall) returns to action at No. 4 Tufts University on Saturday, September 10 at noon.
