MEDFORD, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's track & field team returned to action for the first time in 2023, competing at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday. The Camels finished fourth out of seven competing teams and had four individual winners.
Junior
Chris Koskinen (Yarmouth, Maine) set a new school record in the pole vault, winning the event and clearing a height of 4.70 meters. As a result of his performance, Koskinen qualified for the New England Division III Championships. Teammate
Anders Larson (Concord, N.H.) finished second.
Senior
Chris Verstandig (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and
Max Notarnicola (Millwood, N.Y.) also qualified for the NE DIII Championships. Verstandig won the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 1:58.39. Notarnicola was the champion in the 1,000, finishing in 2:34.89, just .03 seconds ahead of Evan Ensslin from Tufts.
Jeff Love (Union, N.J.) won the 1 mile run, registering a time of 4:25.92, good enough to qualify for the regional championships later in the season. Teammates
Jonathan Norton (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and
Ethan Bush (Hanover, Mass.) finished just behind Love in second and third place respectively.
Connecticut College will return to action on January 21 at the Wheaton Invitational.
