MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's squash team dropped a pair of matchups at neutral site Wesleyan College over the weekend. The Camels fell to Denison 8-1 on Friday but bounced back to defeat Haverford 6-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Connecticut College 1, Denison 8
In the No. 8 position, Eva Ross (Washington, D.C.) picked up the lone win for the Camels. Ross defeated Denison's Hannah Best. After dropping an exciting first set 13-15, Ross stormed back to win the next three sets, 11-7, 11-9, 11-6. Ashley Breyer (Middletown, R.I.) narrowly lost in the No. 9 position, falling in five sets.
Connecticut College 6, Haverford 2
In Saturday's matchup, Conn avenged a loss to Haverford from earlier in the season. The Camels took down the Fords 6-2 thanks to straight-set wins from
Kimberly Lucero (New York, N.Y.),
Tanya Mendoza (Bronx, N.Y.), Ross, and Breyer. First year
Ainsley Ellison (Westfield, N.J.) picked up a four-set win in the No. 2 position and
Caroline Champa (Boston, Mass.) scored a victory by default.
Connecticut College (1-8) will next play Hamilton at home on Jan. 29.
