BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Chris Koskinen (Yarmouth, Maine) broke his own school record in the pole vault, highlighting competition for the Connecticut College men's track & field team at Middlebury's New England Small College Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

Middlebury served as the host of the event at the TRACK at New Balance, with all 11 NESCAC institutions in attendance.

Koskinen cleared a height of 4.95 meters, topping his own personal best and school record. The junior has broken his own program standard for the third straight competition. Koskinen edged out Sam Riley from Williams to win the event for the Camels.

In the one-mile run, Conn placed three runners in the top-20. Senior Chris Verstandig (Slingerlands, N.Y.) finished third in 4:12.30, just three seconds behind winner Elias Lindgren. Teammate Harry Harwood (Woodbury, Conn.) placed sixth and junior Robbie Lynch (Wellesley, Mass.) finished 17th overall. All three athletes qualified for the New England DIvision III Championships later this season.

Sophomore Matt Scardigno (Port Washington, N.Y.) also met the standard of qualification for the regional championships in the 3k. Scardigno crossed the line in 8:36.32, good enough for 10th place.

Connecticut College will be back in action on February 4 at the Tufts Invitational.
