NAPLES, Fla. – The Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team posted a 132-99 victory over Grinnell College on Monday afternoon at the Eagle Lake Park Aquatic Complex.
The Camels turned in first-place finishes in nine of 13 events, with swimmers
Justin Finkel (Cheshire, Conn.) and
Will Nash (Chatham, N.J.) each picking up a pair of individual wins.
Kai Listgarten (San Mateo, Calif.) also had a solid day on the boards, winning both the 1M and 3M diving events.
The Camels opened the meet by taking first and third place in the 200 medley relay. The squad of
Matthew Morris (Alexandria, Va.),
Sean Geisler (New Paltz, N.Y.), Finkel and
Julien Legros (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) set the pace with a time 1:34.86, finishing nearly two seconds faster than the team from Grinnell.
Nash turned in his fastest swim of the year in the 1,000 free (10:02.47) to record his first win of the day. He added the second in the 500 free (4:51.45), and wins by Finkel in the 50 free (21.32) and Legros in the 100 free (47.92) helped cement Conn's dominance in the freestyle events.
Listgarten cruised past Grinnell's Sam Heller in the 1M event, posting a score of 318.80 to win by nearly 90 points. The margin was tighter in the 3M event, with Listgarten prevailing by a score of 263.65 to 208.25.
Finkel also picked up his second win of the meet in the 100 fly (50.33). Conn's final individual win came from
Dash Hunter (Westport, Conn.) in the 100 breast (59.89), who recorded the fastest time by a Camel in the event this season.
Conn College will next swim at Williams College on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00 p.m.
