10/25/2023 11:31:00 AM

NEW LONDON, Conn. – With the NESCAC regular season wrapped, the Connecticut College men's and women's soccer teams have both qualified for the 2023 NESCAC Tournaments.

The tournaments begin with quarterfinals action on Saturday, October 28. The men's team will host sixth-seeded Hamilton College on Freeman Field at noon, while the women's team will travel to third-seeded Bowdoin College for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff. SCHEDULE UPDATE: The women's soccer match has been moved to Sunday, October 29 and will be played at Tufts at 3:00 p.m.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

After a slow start in conference play, Conn roared back to go 4-0-1 down the stretch, including a huge victory over previously unbeaten Williams College. Finishing the regular season at 9-5-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the NESCAC, the Camels secured the sixth seed in the upcoming playoffs.

Conn is in the tournament field for the fourth year in a row and the sixth time in seven years. The Camels last advanced to the semifinals in 2014, the same season they were crowned NESCAC champions.

In their regular season meeting, the Camels and Polar Bears played a tight matchup on September 17, but it was Bowdoin that came away with a 1-0 win on its home turf. Conn will look to avenge the early season loss, as the two sides will meet in the tournament for just the second time.

MEN'S SOCCER

On the men's side, Conn concluded the first unbeaten regular season in program history with a 2-2 draw at Wesleyan University on Tuesday. The Camels currently sit at No. 7 in the national rankings, finishing the regular season with a 10-0-5 overall record. Their 5-0-5 mark in conference play was good enough to earn the three seed.

The Camels are making their 12th consecutive appearance in the NESCAC Tournament. Having finished as the league runner-up in the past two seasons, Conn will look to break through for its first conference title in program history.

During the regular season, the Camels defeated the Continentals 3-2 on September 30, thanks to a late goal from Jack Marvel. The rematch will be the third meeting between the two sides in the tournament, with Hamilton holding wins in both previous matchups.
