WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's cross country team finished third at the 2023 NCAA Mideast Regional on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park.

Conn recorded its best-ever finish at an NCAA Regional—the previous mark (sixth) was achieved in both 2000 and 2001—and beat several teams above them in the regional rankings. The Camels picked up head-to-head victories against Vassar, Middlebury and Coast Guard, all of which should boost their chances of earning an at-large selection for the upcoming NCAA Championship.

Williams finished atop the team leader board with 61 points, spurred by a medalist finish by Genna Girard. Amherst (109) and Conn (125) rounded out the top three spots to make it an all-NESCAC podium.

Conn's top-five runners earned All-Region honors by virtue of top-35 finishes, and the spread for the group was only 22 seconds. In addition, six of the top seven Camels also recorded a career-best 6K time in the race.

Alsacia Timmerman (Morrisville, Vt.) and Edin Sisson (Sidney, Maine) both cracked the 22-minute threshold to pace the squad. Timmerman finished 19th overall in a time of 21:52.0 while Sisson was close behind in 23rd at 21:59.9. Abigail Fernald (Avon, Conn.) was hot on their heels, crossing the line in 24th at 22:02.2. The duo of Lauren Hino (Berwyn, Pa.) and Abigail Williams (Waterville, Maine) rounded out the scoring with finishes of 28th (22:07.9) and 31st (22:14.1), respectively.

The 2023 DIII men's and women's cross country selections will be released on Sunday, Nov. 12 on NCAA.com. A total of 32 teams per gender will be selected for the championships, and 10 on each side will automatically qualify (one per region, from regional championships) while the remaining 22 for each of the men's and women's championships will be picked at large.

The championship race will be held at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania on Saturday, Nov. 18. It will be streamed live on NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
