Women's Basketball Tops Salve Regina for Third-Straight Win

Oberman-Levine nets career-high 35 points in the victory

NEWPORT, R.I. – Led by a career-high 35 points from Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.), the Connecticut College women's basketball team picked up a 78-66 win over Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

The Camels nabbed their third-straight win and improved to 3-4 on the season. In addition to Oberman-Levine's big game, Catherine Cole (Lebanon, N.H.) contributed 11 points while Mia Xerras (Charlotte, N.C.) and Avery Burns (Orleans, Mass.) tacked on eight apiece.

Salve Regina led 18-13 after the first quarter and extended the margin to as many as nine in the second. The Camels cut into the deficit behind seven straight points, pulling to within 22-20 following a three-point play by Cole.

Later in the period, Conn pushed into the lead with an 11-0 spurt that included seven points from Oberman-Levine, who racked up 11 points in the quarter. She led all scorers with 16 points at the break as the Camels held a 33-30 advantage.

Oberman-Levine picked up right where she left off in the third, knocking down five more shots while adding another 11 points to her stat line. The Camels ended the period on an 11-3 run to take a 56-43 lead into the final stanza.

Conn led by as many as 16 in the fourth and held off a late charge by the Seahawks to sew up the win. Oberman-Levine drilled a pair of threes in the final period—giving her five on the day—as she cracked the 30-point barrier for the first time in her career.

Sofia Neary and Briana Neary paced Salve Regina with 27 and 25 points, respectively.

Conn College will next host No. 2 NYU on Sunday, December 3 at 1:00 p.m.
