NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team picked up a pair of wins in a tri-meet with Trinity College and Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon at Lott Natatorium.

The Camels bested the Bantams by a score of 209-88 and beat the Hawks by a 197-91 final, improving to 3-0 on the year in head-to-head competition. Conn took first place in 12 events on the day, with five swimmers and one diver posting individual wins.

Justin Finkel (Cheshire, Conn.) once again led the way, collecting three wins, while Cam Bizjak (Willoughby, Ohio), Matthew Laclef (Bethesda, Md.) and Evan Lyons (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished with two apiece. Teddy Batmaca (Amesbury, Mass.) and Ian Sullivan (Naples, Fla.) also picked up victories as the Camels turned in a dominant performance.

In the first individual event of the meet, Conn had the top-4 finishers in the 1,000 free. Batmaca led the pack—which included Sullivan, Will Nash (Chatham, N.J.) and Jacob Ashley (Kennesaw, Ga.)—with a winning time of 9:56.07.

Lyons grabbed his first win in the 200 free, finishing just ahead of teammate Cooper Voss (Glen Ridge, N.J.) in a time of 1:44.77. He later added a win in the 200 IM (1:57.19).

Laclef edged Tyler Choedak (Austin, Texas) by less than a second for first place in the 100 breast (52.61). The duo then went one-two once again in the 200 back, with Laclef clocking the fastest time at 1:54.04.

Finkel picked up his first of three wins in the 200 fly (1:49.04) ahead of teammate Zach Quitkin (Stratham, N.H.). He also took home the top spot in the 100 free (46.94) and 100 fly (50.22), finishing ahead of Gabe Frank (Northbrook, Ill.) and RWU's Seth Sutton, respectively.

Bizjak enjoyed a solid day on the board, winning both the 1M (287.02) and 3M (264 points) diving competitions. His score in the 1M was an NCAA Regional qualifying score, the first of two needed to reach the postseason competition.

The Camels continued to command the distance events, taking the top three spots in the 500 free. Sullivan was the first to the wall in 4:45.78, with both Lyons and Laclef close behind.

Conn capped the meet with a win in the 400 free relay. The squad of Patrick Henry (Livonia, Mich.), Frank, Finkel and Voss finished nearly three seconds faster than the runner-up team from RWU.

Conn will next compete against Grinnell College on Saturday, January 6 in Naples, FL.
