MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team dropped a 68-54 decision to Middlebury College on Friday night in a NESCAC showdown at Pepin Gymnasium.
Jaycie Rojik (Scituate, Mass.) poured in 20 points on 10-for-18 shooting to lead the Camels, who fell to 7-15 overall (1-8 NESCAC).
Abby Ilusorio (San Diego, Calif.) chipped in a career-high 12 points while
Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) finished with 10.
Conn got off to a strong start, racing out to an early 10-2 lead that included six points from Rojik. Middlebury fired back with a 15-2 spurt and led 21-14 at the end of one.
The Camels pulled even behind a 7-0 run to start the second quarter. Later, a jumper by Oberman-Levine yielded another Conn lead, but it proved to be short lived. Middlebury responded with a 14-5 run to close the half and led 37-30 at intermission.
In the second half, Middlebury saw its lead shrink to one but never trailed again. The Panthers closed the third quarter with a 10-3 spurt and took a 56-43 lead into the final period. The Camels failed to make up any ground in the fourth quarter despite limiting the hosts to only 12 points.
Alexa Mustafaj paced Middlebury with 23 points, one of four Panthers in double figures.
