AMHERST, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's ice hockey team fell to Amherst 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Orr Rink.

Four different Amherst players tallied goals to lead the hosts to their eighth win in the last 11 contests. 

The Mammoths got on the board twice in the opening period. First, Matt Toporowski scored on a rebound on a shot which was initially deflected by goaltender Kellen Beauton (Colchester, Conn.). Then, with time winding down in the period, the hosts added another on an odd man rush off the stick of Tyler Borque. Amherst would carry the 2-0 lead heading into the second period. 

The hosts picked up right where they left off, scoring just 24 seconds into the middle frame to go up 3-0. Ryan Tucker was credited with the goal on a beautiful backhanded shot.

At the 16:20 mark, the Mammoths added their fourth score when Evan Lichman found the back of the net. Amherst held the four-goal advantage through two full periods.

In the third, both teams held each other at bay, keeping one another off the scoreboard to seal the 4-0 victory for Amherst.

Mammoths goaltender Dan Dachille earned the victory and the shutout, stopping 20 shots in net. Beauton made 17 saves in the losing effort for Conn. The Camels were 0-2 on power play opportunities, while Amherst could not convert on one chance with the man-advantage.

Connecticut College (5-16 overall, 2-13 NESCAC) will return home for the final two games of the regular season. The Camels take on Colby on Friday, February 17 followed by a game against Bowdoin on Sunday, February 18.
