BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Matt Carter (Cumberland, Maine) raced to a runner-up finish in the 3k to lead the Connecticut College men's indoor track & field team to a sixth place finish at the New England Division III Championships. 

The Camels scored 36 team points en route to the program's best result at the regional championships in program history. The team scored in five separate events throughout the two-day event featuring over 20 of the top teams from the Northeast. The event took place at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass.

Carter recorded the best Camels finish of the day in the 3k. The senior crossed the line in a career-best 8:14.81, just behind winner Elias Lindgren of Williams. Both Carter and Lindgren topped the meet record of 8:17.40 set in 2017. Teammate Jeffrey Love (Union, N.J.) added his second All-New England honor of the weekend, finishing behind Carter in fourth place. The senior duo accumulated 13 points as a result of their performance.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Lucas Vasquez (Ewing, N.Y.), Bennett MacDougall (Wellesley, Mass.), Joao Ferreira (Lisbon, Portugal), and Jonathan Norton (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) raced to a fourth place result. The quartet finished in 7:54.59 and earned All-New England honors for the performance.

Sophomore Harry Harwood (Woodbury, Conn.) picked up his second regional accolades of the weekend in the mile. After earning All-New England honors in the distance medley relay yesterday, Harwood placed seventh in the mile, receiving the individual merit for the first time. The sophomore crossed the line in 4:13.47. 

Prior to this weekend, the program's top team mark was in 2016, when the squad finished 10th overall with 21 points. 

Select athletes will be back in action next weekend for the final qualifier event, hosted by Tufts.
