MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Connecticut College men's squash team fell to Haverford 5-4 on the final day of the Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Championships.
Playing out of the Conroy Cup division, the Camels ended the weekend with a 2-2 record. After falling to Dickinson on Friday, the team rebounded with two wins on Saturday against Bard and Denison in the consolation portion of the bracket. On Sunday's finale, the Fords were able to narrowly defeat the surging Camels.
Junior
Sam Lovejoy (Branford, Conn.) and
Tyler Maguire (Middletown, R.I.) played extremely well in the top two slots of the Camels' lineup. Lovejoy picked up a four-set win over Quinton Ayres Crawford. The junior picked up the first, third, and fourth set en route to victory. Maguire had similar success at the No. 2 position, also taking down his opponent in four sets. It was a bitter sweet moment for the senior, earning a win in the final match of his collegiate career.
Ryan Mach (Concord, Mass.) and
Noah Fish (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) secured victories out of the No. 4 and No. 5 positions respectively to round out the points for the Camels.
Connecticut College graduates three seniors and returns over 10 athletes with varsity experience.
