ORLANDO, Fla. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team opened its spring trip with a 6-3 setback against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Monday afternoon at the USTA National Campus Collegiate Center.

The Camels began the day with a win in the doubles portion and went on to pick up victories in two of six singles matches. Due to a rain shower that limited court availability, doubles matches were played to six games while all singles sets were played to four.

Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) and James Serhant III (Hadley, Mass.) earned their second straight doubles win, posting a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position. The Camels nearly edged out another point at the No. 2 spot, but the duo of Krishh Tipnis (Thane, India) and Gavin Anderson (Avon, Conn.) were edged 10-5 in a tiebreaker and lost 6-5.

Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) and Tipnis also secured their first singles wins of the spring, each in three sets. Taylor-Kerman dropped the opening set against Nicolas Cusano but bounced back to win (2-4, 4-2, 5-3) at No. 2. Tipnis took the first and third set in his win over Drew Gonzales (4-1, 2-4, 4-1) at No. 6.

Conn College (1-3 overall) will next face Aquinas College (Mich.) on Tuesday, March 14 at 8:30 a.m.
