ERIE, Pa. -- The Connecticut College women's water polo team picked up two wins on the second day of the CWPA regional tournament hosted by Penn State Behrend. The Camels downed Grove City 17-13 in the morning, and then took down Utica 12-9 later in the day.

In the first game against Grove City, first year Gigi Sandull (Kenilworth, N.J.) led the way for the Camels, scoring a career-high eight goals. The performance helped Conn jump out to a 15-6 lead at halftime. Classmate Brooke Brandenburger (Sacramento, Calif.) also contributed to the winning effort, registering three tallies. Although Grove City outscored Conn 7-2 in the fourth quarter, the Camels were able to hold off the surging Wolverines to seal the 17-13 victory.

Later in the day, Conn ousted Utica 12-9. Ainsley Cornwall (San Mateo, Calif.) paced the Camels with five goals. Sandull and first year Anna Taylor (Pleasanton, Calif.) also added two scores each to help the Camels hop out to an early lead.

Conn finished with a 3-1 record at the two-day tournament, only falling narrowly to Washington & Jefferson on Saturday. The Camels will next play at Iona on Wednesday, March 22.
