DANBURY, Conn. – Connecticut College outscored Western Connecticut State University 5-2 in the second half en route to a 10-6 victory in a non-conference men's lacrosse showdown on Tuesday night at the Westside Athletic Complex.
Seven Camels netted a goal in the contest, led by two apiece from
Aidan McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.),
Bobby Chang (South Salem, N.Y.) and
Liam Horkan (Malden, Mass).
Will Rice (New Rochelle, N.Y.) logged all 60 minutes in the cage and finished with five saves.

Late in the first quarter, a tally by
Jared Rainville (Watertown, Conn.) put the Camels up 4-2. The Wolves responded with the final goal of the period, and then tied the game five minutes into the second. The score remained knotted until Chang put Conn back on top with 2:10 left in the half, and the visitors carried the 5-4 lead into the intermission.
The Camels added to the lead by outscoring the Wolves 3-1 in the third quarter, with McAvoy,
Patrick Atkins (Topsfield, Mass.) and
Colter Lingelbach-Pierce (Etna, N.H.) all supplying goals. Horkan added his second tally early in the fourth, and Chang followed suit with an EMO goal with 7:37 left to give Conn its biggest lead at 10-5.
Conn held a 23-16 advantage in ground balls and outshot WestConn by a 42-27 margin.
Jack Venturelli (Duxbury, Mass.) and
Nick McLaughlin (Wilbraham, Mass.) each contributed a team-high four ground balls and a caused turnover.
Conn College (3-3 overall) will next play at Colby College on Saturday, April 1 at noon.
