HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Connecticut College men's track & field team competed at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday in a tuneup for the NESCAC Championships next weekend. The Camels placed seventh out of nine scoring teams, recording a total of 51 points while utilizing a fraction of the squad.

Junior Chris Koskinen (Yarmouth, Maine) placed first in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.75 meters. The mark tied his previous best in the outdoor event. Koskinen also raced in the 4x400-meter relay with teammates Luke Alban (Piedmont, Calif.), Dylan Haime (Bronx, N.Y.) and Lucas Vasquez (Ewing, N.Y.). The quartet finished first in 3:25.14, falling just short of the school record.

In the 5k, the Camels received two top-five finishes from a pair of first years. Robert DiNatale (Cheshire, Conn.) crossed the line in 16:39.39, good enough for fourth place. Classmate Nicholas DeMarco finished right behind in fifth place. As a result, the duo earned nine team points for the Camels.

First year Anders Larson (Concord, N.H.) earned a fourth place result in the long jump, registering a distance of 5.88 meters. Fellow first year Kevin Lieue also placed fourth in the steeplechase, finishing with a time of 11:40.09.

Alban and sophomore Graham Josephson (Hudson, Mass.) each earned seventh place finishes in the 100 and javelin respectively.

For the first time ever, Conn ran in the mixed 4x400 relay. The event, which is new on the Olympic and World Championship stage, is not yet considered to be an NCAA event. In the alternating format, two members of the women's team runs the first and third leg, while two men take part in the second and anchor leg. The quartet of Kathryn Suplee (Milton, Ga.), Owen Phelan (North Andover, Mass.), Annie Morgan (Princeton, N.J.), and Ian Hopkins (Warwick, R.I.) finished fifth overall in 3:56.58.
