NEW LONDON, Conn – The Connecticut College men's water polo team fell in the opening game of the 2023 Camel Round-Up to visiting University of Toronto 28-4 on Friday night from Lott Natatorium
The Varsity Blues jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the opening eight minutes, and never looked back. Fourteen different players scored a goal for Toronto, with Daniel Gonzalez Delgado leading the way with five goals.
Toronto jumped out a 9-0 edge before the Camels got on the board with 1:18 remaining in the first half on a goal from
Jeffrey Harrington (San Diego, Calif), as the Varsity Blues led 11-1 at the break.
Carson Neidert (West Palm Beach, Fla.) tallied the second Conn goal late in the third quarter, before the Camels added two goals in the fourth.
Matthew Maischoss (Malibu, Calif.) scored 7:19 remaining, and
Cormac Stevens (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted a goal with 1:42 left, as Conn fell 28-4.
Cully MacPherson (Brooklyn, N.Y.),
Sebastian Parilov (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and
Isaac Merwin (Houston, Texas) all received action in goal for Conn.
Conn College will look to day two of the Camel Round-Up, as the Camels take on MIT at 12:45 p.m. before taking on Penn State Behrend at 6:00 p.m., with both games in Lott Natatorium.
