Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – The Connecticut College women's volleyball team saw a three-game winning streak come to an end on Friday night in its NESCAC opener at Colby College, falling 3-0 by set scores of 25-10, 25-8 and 25-20 at the Crook Center.
Colby (3-2 overall, 1-0 NESCAC) hit .284 for the match and was paced by nine kills from Emma Davis. The Mules finished with 38 kills as a team against only 15 errors.
Zoe Watts (Chicago, Ill.) led the Camels with six kills and added five digs on the night.
Emma Wheeler (Meredith, N.H.) and
Rae Wartelle (Tacoma, Wash.) added four kills apiece while
Katherine Randall (Chicago, Ill.) chipped in three.
Colby started the match with six straight points and never looked back, posting 13 kills while hitting .346 in the opening set. The Mules carried that momentum into the second set and vaulted out to a 12-3 lead en route to a 2-0 edge.
The Camels got off to a better start in the third and took the early lead, as kills by Randall, Wartelle, Wheeler and Watts helped build a 6-3 advantage. However, the Mules swung things back in their favor with eight straight points, and the hosts never trailed again.
Conn College (3-3 overall, 0-1 NESCAC) will look to bounce back at Bates College on Saturday, September 16 at noon.
