MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Two members of the Connecticut College women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championship on Friday at Wesleyan University.
In morning singles action, both
Courtney Banks (North Haven, Conn.) and
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) lost in straight sets in the A draw. Banks fell to Mount Holyoke's Annika Chai by finals of 6-0, 6-4, while Kerachsky dropped a tiebreaker in the first set before falling to Amherst's Amy Cui by scores of 7-6 (3), 6-1.
The day continued with doubles play in the afternoon, with Banks and Kerachsky teaming up to take on Gordon's Annette Kim and Serena Ross in the round of 64. The Camels held off a late charge to win 8-6 in a tiebreaker, securing the final two points on a forehand volley at the net by Banks and a Gordon unforced error.
The duo advanced to the round of 32 for a match-up against Amherst's Deliala Friedman and Sophie Diop. Having received a bye in the first round, the fresher Mammoths powered to an 8-2 victory.
