NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team opened the 2023-24 season with a strong first day play at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday.
With all action being forced indoors due to the weather, contests were played at both Conn College and Coast Guard. The first day of the round robin tournament featured all doubles contests, with the Camels posting a combined record of 15-5 on the day against competition from Coast Guard, Springfield, Trinity and St. Michael's.
Conn had a total of six doubles teams compete between the two sites. The duos of
Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) and
Sigmund Winiecki (Jaffrey, N.H.) and
Arjun Premkumar (Bangalore, India) and
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) each went 3-1 on the day.
Two squads went unbeaten on Saturday, as
Gavin Anderson (Avon, Conn.) and
Colby Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) posted a 3-0 mark, and the team of
Krishh Tipnis (Thane, India) and
Zachary Regelman (Weston, Mass.) went 2-0.
Andy Feldman (Newton, Mass.) and
Maximo Gulla (Madison, Conn.) finished 2-1 on the day. The Camels also picked up a pair of wins courtesy of
James Serhant III (Hadley, Mass.) and
Nikhil Agarwal (San Mateo, Calif.), who finished 2-2 overall.
The Connecticut College Invitational will continue on Sunday with doubles and singles play, depending on weather conditions and court availability.
