Men's Tennis Competes at ITA Regional Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Four members of the Connecticut College men's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championship on Friday at Bowdoin College.

In morning doubles action, the duo of Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) and Sigmund Winiecki (Jaffrey, N.H.) faced off against Bates' Eli Criss and Alex Park. The Camels put up a good fight but fell by an 8-6 final.

The day continued with singles play in the afternoon, with a pair of Camels competing in the A draw and two more in the B. All matches in the A draw were best of three sets, while matches in the B draw were decided by 8-game pro sets.

In the A draw, Arjun Premkumar (Bangalore, India) started his day with a straight sets victory over Bates' Theo Sardain by a 6-3, 6-3 final. He then took on Babson's Jonah Wilson in the round of 32, where he was knocked out by a final of 6-4, 6-3. 

Winiecki also picked up a win on the day, cruising to an 8-1 victory over Bates' Nico Ozer in the B draw. He then moved on to play Amherst's Ethan Ohm in the round of 32, but was eliminated in an 8-5 final. 

Taylor-Kerman and Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) also saw singles action on the day. Taylor-Kerman battled Williams' Shawn Berdia to a third set before falling 6-2, 6-7, 6-0 in the A draw, and Mulligan lost to Babson's Jose Gonzalez by a tally of 8-3 in the B draw.

Jose Gonzalez (Babson) defeats Walker Mulligan (Conn College), 8-3

Doubles
Eli Criss/Alex Park (Bates) defeat Jules Taylor-Kerman/Sigmund Winiecki (Conn College), 8-6
