NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's volleyball team saw its five-game win streak come to an end against Amherst College on Saturday afternoon, falling by a 3-0 final in a NESCAC match-up at Luce Field House.
Amherst won by set scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-17 to improve to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in league play. Charlotte Rasmussen posted a match-high 12 kills to pace the Mammoths, who hit .315 as a team and finished with nine blocks.
Coming off an emotional five-set win over Williams on Friday night, Conn dropped to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in NESCAC play.
Katherine Randall (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs while
Zoe Watts (Chicago, Ill.) added six kills.
The Camels hung tough in the opening set as Watts set the tone with five kills early on. The score was tied at 17-17 when the Mammoths pulled away, capturing the set behind an 8-1 run that was spurred by back-to-back kills by Alexandra Trofort.
Amherst never trailed in the second set and used an 8-2 run to build a 14-7 advantage. Rasmussen put down five balls and added an ace in the frame. The Mammoths then got off to a 10-2 start in the third and never looked back.
Conn College will next host Middlebury College on Friday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m.
