Men's S&D Rolls Past Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine. – The Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team picked up its third win of the holiday weekend on Monday afternoon, besting Colby College by a 167-131 final at the Aquatics Center.

The Camels, who won 11 of 16 events, improved to 6-0 in head-to-head competition on the season. Conn had six competitors take first place on the day, with Justin Finkel (Cheshire, Conn.), Evan Lyons (Longmeadow, Mass.), Matthew Morris (Alexandria, Va.) and Cam Bizjak (Willoughby, Ohio) all securing multiple wins. 

In the first individual event of the meet, the Camels got off to a strong start by sweeping the top three spots in the 1,000 free. Matthew Laclef (Bethesda, Md.) led the pack with a time of 9:45.65 and was trailed by Ian Sullivan (Naples, Fla.) and Teddy Batmaca (Amesbury, Mass.).

Conn followed a similar blueprint in the 200 free as Patrick Henry (Livonia, Mich.) touched the wall first in 1:42.76. Cooper Voss (Glen Ridge, N.J.) and Will Nash (Chatham, N.J.) rounded out the top-3 to give the Camels an early lead on the scoreboard.

Conn kept the momentum going as Morris picked up wins in both the 100 back (50.91) and 200 back (1:51.28). Finkel posted a total of three wins on the day, swimming to victory in the 200 fly (1:48.10), 100 free (45.93) and 100 fly (48.11). Bizjak also had a strong day on the board, winning both the 1M (250.12) and 3M (258.53) competitions. 

Conn will next host Williams College on Saturday, January 20 at 1:00 p.m.
