AMHERST, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team dropped a 170-118 decision to Amherst College on Saturday afternoon in a NESCAC match-up at Pratt Pool.
The Camels posted a total of six wins and five runner-up finishes on the day.
Justin Finkel (Cheshire, Conn.),
Evan Lyons (Longmeadow, Mass.) and
Cam Bizjak (Willoughby, Ohio) each contributed a pair of wins to lead the charge.
Lyons got Conn off to a good start with a victory in the 1,650 free, his second in as many weeks. He was first to the wall in a time of 16:02.73, and teammate
Matthew Laclef (Bethesda, Md.) finished second to give the Camels an early 19-17 lead.
Finkel's first win came in the 200 fly, where his time of 1:48.90 was more than two seconds better than his nearest competitor. He later picked up his second win in the 100 free (46.68) and also finished runner-up in the 100 fly.
Bizjak won both the 1M and 3M diving competitions with scores of 259.95 and 251.92, respectively. Lyons wrapped up his day with a win in the 500 free (4:37.21) and a third-place showing in the 200 IM.
Matthew Morris (Alexandria, Va.) also turned in runner-up finishes in both the 100 and 200 back.
Conn will next compete at the College of the Holy Cross on Sunday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m.
