Women's XC Finishes Ninth at Conn Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. – The No. 18 Connecticut College women's cross country team finished ninth out of 37 teams at the 2024 Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Harkness Memorial State Park.

Nearly one third of the field was composed of schools ranked in the most recent USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Coaches Poll. Top-ranked MIT topped the team leaderboard with 83 points while No. 7 NYU finished as runner-up with 101. Middlebury's Audrey Maclean took home medalist honors with a time of 20:44.6.

The Camels, who finished with 254 points, had five runners place in the top-70 with a spread of 40 seconds between them. Grace McDonough (Londonderry, N.H.) led the pack with a time of 21:52.2 and placed 26th overall, one of four Conn runners to post a personal best on the day.

Abby Williams (Waterville, Maine) was the next Camel to cross the line, finishing 41st in career-best 22:12.8. Conn's final three point scorers—Alsacia Timmerman (Morrisville, Vt.), Abby Fernald (Avon, Conn.) and Kiera Tallas (Fountain Valley, Calif.)—all came home in a group. Timmerman (22:30.2) and Fernald (22:31.5) finished 61st and 64th, respectively, while Tallas logged a career-best time of 22:32.3 and placed 66th.

April Schilling (Amherst, Mass.) and Addie Fuller (Eliot, Maine) rounded out Conn's top-7. Schilling set a personal best time of 23:17.2 while Fuller checked in at 23:22.3.

Conn will next compete at the NESCAC Championship on Saturday, November 2 in Brunswick, ME.
