Men's S&D Tops Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team picked up a 174-122 victory over Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon at the Middlebury Natatorium.

Conn picked up wins in 12 of 16 events to even its dual meet record to 1-1 on the year. Seven different Camels earned an individual victory on the day, including two apiece for Justin Finkel (Cheshire, Conn.), Carrick Shea (Grafton, Mass.) and Jack Mattison-Gulotta (Florence, Mass.). Finkel also anchored both relay teams in victories in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

The Camels opened the meet strong, picking up first-place finishes in the 200 medley relay and both the 1,000 and 200 free. Evan Lyons (Longmeadown, Mass.) took the 1,000 free (9:55.49) while Mattison-Gulotta led a Conn 1-2-3 finish in the 200 free (1:44.35).

Shea, who also contributed to both relay victories, finished first in both the 100 breast (58.17) and 200 breast (2:10.44). Finkel's wins came in the 200 fly (1:50.82) and the 500 free (4:44.81), and Cam Bizjak (Willoughby, Ohio) amassed the top score in the 1M dive (293.4).

Newcomer Aiden Miller (Westfield, N.J.) turned in the fastest time in the 100 free (48.31), while Mattison-Gulotta picked up his second win in the 100 fly (52.95). Ryan Karaca (Schenectady, N.Y.) rounded out the group with a win in the 200 IM (1:59.10). 

Conn will next compete at Roger Williams University on Saturday, December 7 at 1:00 p.m.
