Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey Stumped by No. 15 Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. – No. 15 Endicott College scored twice in the span of 65 seconds in the first period, holding on to defeat the Connecticut College men's ice hockey team 3-0 from Raymond J. Bourque Arena. With the loss, Conn falls to 4-2-1, while Endicott improves to 6-3.

Both teams generated a few chances over the first 10 minutes, but both goalies were solid, as the game remained scoreless. However, Endicott opened the scoring just past the 11 minute mark. Dominic Garozzo found the back of the net off assists from Michael Casey and A.J. Martinelli to make it 1-0. Just over a minute later, the Seagulls doubled the lead as Garozzo tallied his second of the game at 12:07 to make it 2-0, after the first period.

Both defenses upped their game in the second period, as the teams traded opportunities. Neither side was able to convert in the middle 20 minutes, as Endicott continued to lead 2-0 heading to the third.

The Seagulls opened up the final frame forcing three saves from Will McEvoy (Ottawa, Ontario) in the opening two and a half minutes. Conn pushed trying to cut the deficit in half, but the Camels were unable to beat Atticus Kelly. With time running down, Conn pulled the goalie for the extra attacker, but Ryan Willett potted the puck into the empty net, as Endicott came away with the 3-0 win.

Endicott outshot Conn 39-27, while holding a slim 32-31 edge on face-off wins.

McEvoy got the start in goal, recording 36 saves. Andrew Eberling (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and Will Lawrence (Bethesda, Md.) paced Conn, as both recorded four shots on goal. Conn finished the evening 0-2 on the power play and 0-1 on the penalty kill.

Kelly picked up the shutout in goal, finishing with 27 saves. Garozzo paced the Seagulls with two goals, while Willett added a goal and an assist. Endicott finished 2-2 on the penalty kill and 1-1 on the power play.

Conn continues their road trip this weekend, as the Camels head to Brunswick, Maine to take on Bowdoin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
