Women's Water Polo Downs Washington and Jefferson 16-9 in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Connecticut College women's water polo team traveled to Florida for spring break and defeated Washington and Jefferson 16-9 on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Conn improves to 6-1 on the year

Conn (6-1) and Washington and Jefferson went back-and-forth during the opening quarter, as the Camels led 5-3 after the first. The back-and-forth action continued throughout the second quarter, as the teams combined for five more goals. However, Conn led at the break 8-5.

The third quarter was all Conn, as the Camels outscored the Presidents 3-1 in the frame. The offenses came back to life in the final quarter, as the squads once again combined for eight goals. In the fourth quarter, Washington and Jefferson tallied three goals, while Conn added five, to come away with the 16-9 victory.

Grace Isola (San Mateo, Calif.) got the start in goal, playing the first and third quarters, finishing with five saves. Maddie Baybeck (Ann Arbor, Mich.) played the second and fourth quarters in goal, and also finished with five saves. Gigi Sandull (Kenilworth, N.J.) paced the Camels attack, recording seven goals, while Emma Luna (Wahiawa, Hawaill) notched two goals and five assists, with Melia Lorch (Encinitas, Calif.) adding one goal and five assists. 

Conn heads to New Rochelle, N.Y. to take on Iona University on Thursday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m.
