NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Connecticut College women's water polo team hit the road, taking on Division I Iona University, falling to the host Gaels 14-4 on Thursday night from the Hynes Center Pool. With the loss, Conn falls to 6-2 on the year, while Iona improves to 10-12.

Iona (10-12) started strong, tallying all the goals in the opening quarter to lead 7-0 after. Conn (6-2) finally got on the board early in the second quarter. Brooke Brandenburger (Sacramento, Calif.) hit the back of the net, to cut the deficit to 7-1 at 6:19. However, the Gaels recorded three more goals to end the quarter, leading 10-1 at the break.

The scoring slowed down in the third quarter, as Emma Luna (Wahiawa, Hawaii) cut into the Iona lead, but a late tally from the Gaels had Iona up 11-2 heading to the fourth quarter. Iona opened the final frame with back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 13-2.  Luna tallied her second goal of the contest, before another marketer for the Gaels. The Camels added one more goal late, with Brandenburger notching her second of the game, as Conn fell 14-4.

Grace Isola (San Mateo, Calif.) got the start in goal, playing the first and third quarters, while Maddie Baybeck (Ann Arbor, Mich.) played the second and fourth quarters in goal. Brandenburger and Luna both recorded two goals to lead the Camels attack.

Conn returns home to host Wheaton College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Lott Natatorium.
