WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's lacrosse team dropped a 24-8 decision to No. 20 Williams College on Saturday afternoon in a NESCAC showdown at Farley-Lamb Field.
The Ephs, who improved to 5-3 overall (3-1 NESCAC), outscored the Camels 12-1 in the second quarter to seize control. The hosts led 18-2 at intermission as Ryan Johnson netted four of his game-high five goals in the first half.
Lorenzo Vogliano (New York, N.Y.) paced Conn with his first career hat trick.
Jack Tenzer (Charlotte, N.C.) chipped in two goals while
Patrick Atkins (Topsfield, Mass.) added a goal and an assist.
After Williams got off to a hot start with four goals in the opening 3:01, the Camels fired back with a tally by Tenzer off an assist by
JJ Ford (Clinton, Conn.). However, the Ephs countered with 13 straight goals, a streak that
Liam Horkan (Malden, Mass.) snapped with a goal in the final minute of the half.
The scoring was even at 6-6 over the final 30 minutes of the contest. Vogliano netted all three of his goals in the fourth quarter, with assists coming from
Aidan Gaudet (Cheshire, Conn.),
Isaiah Kozub (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Atkins.
Williams finished the game with a 53-37 edge in total shots.
Will Rice (New Rochelle, N.Y.), one of four Conn goalies who saw action, recorded 12 saves.
Conn (2-5 overall, 0-5 NESCAC) will next host Trinity College on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m.
