PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-- The Connecticut College men's squash team sent Sam Lovejoy (Branford, Conn.) to compete in the CSA singles championship and Noah Fish (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) and Peter Russell (Lancaster, Pa.) to compete in the doubles championship.
Singles
In the round of 16, Lovejoy battled hard against his draw, Shaurya Bawa of Columbia University, falling 11-8, 11-6, 14-12, to fall to the consolation bracket. In the consolation quarterfinal, Lovejoy defeated Hassan Khalil of Princeton University 11-5, 11-5, with Khalil retiring after the second set. With the win, Lovejoy advanced to the consolation semifinal against Marco DiFilippo of Franklin and Marshall. Lovejoy came up short, falling 11-6, 11-6, 11-4. Lovejoy will have one more match in the 11th place match with an opponent to be determined.
Doubles
Fish and Russell were drawn against Alix DuPlessis and Jack Turvey of St. Lawrence in the round of 64. Fish and Russell dropped the first set 11-6, but battled back to take the second set 13-11. However, DuPlessis and Turvey won the final two sets to come away with the 3-1 victory.
