MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team dropped its season finale by a 9-0 tally to No. 40 Wesleyan University on Sunday morning at the John Wood Memorial Courts.
The Camels entered the day with a chance at securing the final spot in the upcoming NESCAC Championship, but the Cardinals had other ideas. Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles play and captured all six singles matches in straight sets.
Conn hung tough in the doubles portion of the competition, as the duo of
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) and
Jared Leong (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) lost by an 8-5 final at No. 2.
Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) and
James Serhant III (Hadley, Mass.) also put up a fight at No. 3 before falling 8-6.
In singles action, Taylor-Kerman took Brett Keeling to a tiebreaker in the opening set at No. 3 but fell short.
Arjun Premkumar (Bangalore, India) also won three games in each set against Ben Mitchell at No. 2.
Conn ends the season with an overall record of 9-8, which included NESCAC wins over Bates College and Trinity College. The last time the Camels won two league matches was in 2019.
