NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 non-conference victory over Mount Holyoke College on Wednesday evening in Luce Field House.
The Camels took two out of three doubles contests and sealed the victory behind five singles wins. Conn improved to 6-5 overall on the season.
Caitlin Cass (Newcastle, Maine) and Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) took care of business with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. After a power outage halted play for an hour, the duo of Courtney Banks (North Haven, Conn.) and Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) claimed another point at the No. 2 spot.
All four Camels also produced wins in singles action. Cass cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the top spot while Kerachsky took the first set at No. 2 before her opponent retired. Kowalska kept the momentum going with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3, and Banks came through with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 4. Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) added the final point at No. 5, dropping only one game in a 6-1, 6-0 rout.
Conn will next host Williams College on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m.
