Men's XC Finishes 16th at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's cross country team finished 16th out of 44 teams at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning at the Robert Dowd Cross Country Course.

The Camels hung tough in a competitive field that included programs from NCAA Division I, II and III. Conn finished the day with 498 points, trailing only four Division III programs. Boston University put five runners in the top-8 and bested the field with a team score of 22 points. 

Conn's top finishers all made their season debuts. Zach Stoddard (Pomfret Center, Conn.) paced the Camels with a time of 26:21.32, good enough for 75th overall in the field of 342 runners. Ellis Iurilli-Hough (Melrose, Mass.) took 86th place in 26:32.59 while Ronan Staab (White Plains, N.Y.) placed 114th in 26:59.21.

Anthony Belford (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Josh Barzilai (Princeton, N.J.) rounded out the scoring for the Camels. Belford crossed the line in 141st with a time of 27:24.05, and Barzilai took 143rd place in 27:24.32. Sam Walker (Newburyport, Mass.) and Deem Quinn (Cranston, R.I.) filled out Conn's top-7 seven with times of 27:55.52 (193rd) and 27:59.53 (196th), respectively.

Conn will next compete at the DIII Pre-National in Terre Haute, Ind. on Friday, October 4 at 8:00 p.m.
